Frank Ervin III is Group Vice President – Government Affairs at Piston Group. In this role he is responsible for managing all federal, state, and local legislative affairs and economic development activities.
Frank is also responsible for building and maintaining positive company relations with members of congress, state and local legislators, officials and their staffs.
Ervin has more than 35 years of executive experience in the global automotive supply industry, including positions in governmental affairs, supply-chain management, factory automation and fleet sales. He has successfully addressed government relations challenges and business issues at state, national and international levels throughout his career. He most recently served as vice president of specialized MBE Services at the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council and previously served as senior director – government affairs at Magna International. Prior to joining Magna Ervin spent more than 30 years in various positions in the automotive supply industry with a focus on government relations. He has extensive experience in building a global business structure in the U.S. and other countries such as Mexico, Japan, South America, Europe and Asia, involving a variety of customers including the major automobile manufacturers worldwide and Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 manufacturers worldwide.
Ervin has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, and a master’s degree in international business from Chelsea College in London. He also is a Vietnam veteran with service in the U.S. Navy.
Ervin has held board positions with a variety of organizations, including the Southeastern Michigan United Way and the Organization for International Investment. He also serves as the chairman of the Advocacy Committee at MICHauto, which is part of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.
