Prototype module development.

Piston Group’s advanced engineering capabilities make us our clients’ trusted partner in the prototyping process. Prototyping projects may consist of limited early module development, or large assembly builds of 200 – 300 units. During the process, we prove out initial fixture, assembly, and testing concepts prior to production, and conduct onsite builds with customers and suppliers to address potential design and assembly issues. Continuous refinement throughout the prototyping process ensures that any identified issues are addressed prior to production.

Electrification prototype and module development.

Piston Group’s engineering excellence, technological advancement, and sophisticated hazardous materials handling capabilities enable us to provide outstanding prototyping services for battery and electrification systems. Services include cell joining development utilizing ultrasonic and laser welding, as well as testing, charging, and assembly prove-out. We also address special module and assembly requirements, including custom test modules for advanced scientific research projects, and instrumented pack level assemblies and modules.

Our program management and quality teams co-manage a rigorous design and product verification testing process, creating and administering component and module DV and PV test plans in accordance with customer requirements. The team also develops and delivers comprehensive documentation of testing results.

We conduct rigorous full module life cycle testing, fastener testing, and component level testing to ensure the soundness of our processes, as well as complete DV and PV testing for all Piston-designed components. We also utilize select test facilities to verify module and components for specialized testing requirements.
